This past week was filled with a whole lot of nothing that took up a whole lot of time. Even without having to worry about college applications (I did that all by February 15th, yay) I was barely making it from one day to the next without frantically looking for a pause button on life.
So what’s happened since I last showed up here…
I haven’t mentioned drumming in awhile on the blog. I still have lessons. But now, in the months leading to me quitting because of school, we’ve changed directions and I’m now sort-of kind-of the drummer for a um.. death metal band(?). Frankly, I haven’t an ounce of clue what kind of metal the music belongs to but I like the parts I play. It’s the vocals that I’ve never been to keen about. Last Saturday, we jammed at a (shitty) studio and I was rewarded with temporary tinnitus. 2 to 3 days of incessant ringing in the right ear is a pain in rear. Heh. This story could also segue into one about being verbally abused in the middle of the street but I’m saving that one until I can think about how to write it with a point.
Oh yeah, been working on an idea for my Amazing Race audition tape. Ya, I got a buddy who is crazy enough to join me. Now we have to get together to make that tape. Aiya..
And the MUN thing (previous post on it – here and here) has slowly sucked away my patience quota for the month. I realise, at some point, that I can’t be mad at the kids for not seeing things in the world perspective.. they’re 13 and 14. All they care about is TRL and American Idol getting straight A’s. There’s actually a really funny story from Wednesday’s meeting with the kids. Ask me about it if you see me online.
I have three DVDs that are just sitting there since last weekend and I haven’t been able to watch any. Was gonna try to watch at least one; a review as space filler for the blog. Yeah, well… that wasn’t going to happen.
You’re thinking, well G, that don’t sound like a busy week at all. And I’m telling you that you ain’t got my mother. Intermittently, all week, I’ve had to run errands for her. Sometimes she wakes me from sleep in the mornings to get things to her. Mentang-mentanglah she’s a pengetua; actin’ like CEO of a Fortune 500 and I’m her lackey. But I love my mom and that’s that. Not to mention she is still providing me food and shelter.
This week has also been a Canadian Comic Appreciation Week or something because I was introduced to Russell Peters and musical satirists, Bowser and Blue on separate occasions. Hah, I bet you were thinking Tom Green and Jim Carrey.
Finally, went climbing this morning. With the exception of stupidly bumping my head against a hold I think I did pretty good. I also think inhaling climbing chalk makes you stupid. Emran, my climbing buddy, started it first – I was trying to give him the chalk bag and so I said, “Hang on, let me hook this onto your harness.” Smartass turns around to me with a disgusting grin and said, “If you hook things on me, does that make you a hooker?” Hardy har har… Not that I was a model of good taste since shortly after someone said they were looking for one last good climb and I turned to her and bellowed, “You lookin’ for a good time??!!” Sheesh. Cheese and crackers.
Next week should be better. Insyallah, right?
Tchuss…
