Two things of note for us paranoids…
First off…
CYA FYI: I’m not sure that this isn’t an Urban Legend.
This article says that a couple in Rhode Island recently paid 6K on their credit card bill. It raised a flag at Homeland Security.
Apparently if you pay a certain percentage more than usual on your credit cards the Department of Homeland Security is notified. I checked the laws this article reference and if I am reading them correctly (I’m not a lawyer) it says that they can only get the information without telling you if they request it because they suspect you of being a drug dealer or a spy.
However, the big “they†didn’t request it. Their credit card company just gave it up. No wonder people keep their money in a mayo jar buried in the back yard.
I’m not sure why I was surprised. But the next time the credit card company calls and ask why we haven’t made a payment I have a really good reason.
And secondly…
Here is an article on what the Government is doing for the American People in the name of security. I hope that the agents surfing my web history (and you know they are) enjoy the fan fiction, blogs, CNN and other sites (smirk) as much as I do.
Who knew that the Lone Gunmen and Mulder were not fictional characters but visionaries? I think I’ll go buy stock in tin foil.
Sorry about the look, it’s still very much under construction. Regarding this post, I should really refrain from posting while at work, huh? Considering that I’m on a Government server, it must be much easier to check up on me.
Can you see the headlines now? “Federal employee is fired for posting anti-Bush sentiments while at work.”
There was this other interesting situation where this woman said she’d heard a word that was pedophile slang (though she didn’t know that until she Googled it). So now she’s like, “are they gonna come knock on my door cos I searched for pedie porn??”
I need to somehow make the ‘guestblogging’ part more obvious for this blog. Any ideas how? Big red sign at the top maybe? Have my guest bloggers sign their names at the top?
