Long live the err… King?

I saw this on MSNBC.

In summary: Hood College is reviewing its homecoming rules after a lesbian, Jennifer Jones, was crowned king. She received 64 of 169 votes cast. There are 2100 students at the western Maryland school some of whom are not happy about it.

Let me start with my old standby from other elections “If you don’t vote you are not allowed to complain”.

And secondly…

I’m finished.

I don’t think she should have been allowed on the ballot. For Queen yes but not for King. Men are Kings and she is a woman. It’s pretty simple, I think.

Don’t get me wrong. I think that Jennifer should be able to go to the homecoming dance with whomever she pleases.

Though, I would like to hear a reasonable argument why a woman should be King of Homecoming.

Anyone got one?
