Teachers’ Day

It is Hari Guru in Malaysia right now.

I’ve really been rethinking my take on education and teaching. The more I think, the less I believe in the idea of teaching someone. But that’s a thought for another post on another day.

For now, let us reflect on a quote by John Dewey from his ‘My Pedagogic Creed’ : “Education, therefore, is a process of living and not a preparation for future living.”

I take the other though similar tack – that it isn’t just teachers who teach.

my best/favourite teachers were the ones who…guided me towards the information rather than fed it to me. (they were also the most frustrating :)
