fuck you, Indiana!

Nothing terribly exciting happened today except at state capitol where two devastating piece of legislation passed through senate – an amendment to state’s constitution to define marriage as between a man and a woman and a bill that would allow Indiana pharmacists to refuse to dispense or sell birth control pills. Both made front page news of the school paper and I was particularly fond of this quote from a pro lifer (name removed but it’s a female):

“I would rather lose my job than possibly assist in the ending of a human life… I applaud those who have the courage to protect the often-overlooked preborn members of society, and I applaud the senators who stood up for those protectors.”

The marriage bill will be put to public vote during the November elections and the second one needs to pass the house of representatives.

God, this state is so fucking ass backwards that I sometimes forget I live in it.
