Battlestar, briefly

After the last couple weeks episodes yesterdays BSG was like… AWESOME.

I think, personally, it’s because there was no Baltar. I cannot stand him and his crazy preaching.

Major milestones in the ep for Athena and Anders that made me feel a little more sympathetic for those two. Previously, Anders was this stupid man-toy Starbuck picked up that I could care less about but in this episode, I’m starting to like the complexities he’s developing as he tries to ‘feel out’ who he really is. In some ways, he’s doing it better than Tyrol whom I had a crush on for the first 2 season but then he just got really whiny and dumb. Athena — who slowly over the last season slipped from the list of my favorite characters — her disconnect with her other selfs, the other eights, was very powerful; it reads loud and clear the message of it’s not what we are but who we are that defines us. Which, ironically, is what Anders is battling with! See what I mean by this being a good episode? The storytelling is as intricate as you could ever hope for in television!

An aside – I don’t read BSG fanfic. I don’t *want* to read BSG fanfic but boy, I’m thinking the slash writers are writing up a storm after last nites episode featuring Kara Thrace and the now-dead chick who’s name I don’t know of but shared that short scene telling Kara how much she kicked ass since day 1. Heh. Homo-subtext FTW.

I want more Bill Adama! I want more space battles and dogfights! Bring back the good old days.

Didn’t Bill Adama look nice when he smiled at Roslin towards the end? :)
