Yasmin Ahmad (I’m seriously beginning to think I should curtsy everytime I say the name) directs a McD’s commercial and it’s pretty good… until the actor said his last line with a little bit the English inflection and that put me off, cause in his earlier conversation with his mama was in manglish.
I can’t say enough about how well as a director, she always manages to capture the ethereal elements that makes you look at the scene and feel like you were once there. How? I do not know.
By the by, Mukhsin is currently being screened in NYC’s MoMA as one of three Asian films in a monthly exhibit called ContemporAsian. It says it’s an ongoing exhibit but I’m guessing they rotate the movies out after a few weeks so if you are a fan and haven’t been able to go home to watch it….
Which reminds me that I need to add ‘buy Muallaf‘ on my list of things to do when I’m home.
