the world is stupid

Dear Prop 8 opposers – please remember that “do unto others…” should also be practiced and not just preached. So try not to beat up on old ladies while you hold your protests. Phyllis Burgess suddenly becomes the Prop 8 proponents’ poster girl, and it does nobody no good when the right-wing nut job conservatives point to instances like this and that of the lynched Palin effigy in WeHo to illustrate that the gays and those who support them are violent and crude.

Take the high road. Leave the drama at home or at the gym, you queens. Channel your anger and frustrations in grassroots movements to repeal this amendment in 2010.

The San Francisco Chronicle has this to say in its editorial:

This outcome shouldn’t stand. At the same time, those who oppose the ban should draw the line at excesses: curse-filled picket lines at churches, racial-tinged confrontations and personalized boycotts aimed at opponents of same-sex marriage. These actions deny civil rights, invite violence, and ignore the options that may restore same-sex unions. These tactics shouldn’t be tolerated, or allowed to become diversions from the central cause of restoring same-sex unions.

Don’t be asinine. Do unto others. Peace.
