File this one under Extreme Shallowness Episode Viewings because I just died from exposure to Alex Cabot gorgeousness. Though, there really was waaaay too little Cabot. When they said they were bringing her back for 6 episodes I was expecting 6 weeks of scenes of trials and arraignments and motion hearings and judges snarking at Cabot. Hello, Mr. Baer… “commanding presence in the courtroom”… remember??
This episode was building up to something palatable (as decent as this season can get) but it swung left in Albuquerque, or Staten Island in this case, and dove right into the valley of screwed-the-pooch in the last quarter.
Also, why is Olivia the Bimbo making a comeback? Surely she understands the guy is a war criminal and will be tried and penalized more severely at the ICC. I hate it when they make her dumb.
My new favorite thing to nitpick about the series is the overly dramatic music. Why, fertheloveofpete, is it necessary for the music in the teaser, as they were talking about “the devil”, to be all DUNDUN-ish?
Back to the shallow viewing though – Elliot was wearing one of my favorite shirts on him. Olivia was looking pretty hot considering her alter ego has been in and out of the hospital. And Cabot… in glasses… in the library… sigh. This is why they are the Trinity of Lust.
EDIT: Forgot to mention that Cicely Tyson was so wonderfully sublime. She just did what the script asked without the whole Lookit Meee I’m a Big Staaaah Special Guesting on Teeveeeee. Though, I was totally waitin’ to hear her say, “Secret’s in the sauce!”
But, at least, this time the “big issue” was dealt with rather well, I think. It helps to have Amanda Greene write and not D. Truly.
I was soooo disappointed, though. It seemed the story was wrapped up about 20 min before the end (before the FBI announced he wanted to hunt down the good guy, too) and I thought to myself: “Whoa, could it be? 20 min left? Perfect for a nice dinner among friends, i.e. a hot date between Liv and Alex.” But, noooooo.
Sorry, btw, can’t share your excitement about Elliot, I thought he just looked (and sounded) like he had a bad cold.
I have to say, though, that this was an odd way of having the UN premiere in a TV show – Alex really needed to meet the guy AT the UN to make us believe that he does work there??
Oh, I get it, that actually was one of Steph’s demands: “Ok, I’ll come back, but ONLY if you arrange for me to be in th UN.”
Indeed – WHERE the heck was Alex in that episode?? We need more of her!! Oh, so much more…
the UN thing was bunk. After all that PR about the show shooting there. I wonder if they had cut scenes out. I thought Alex was gonna to kick some international ass. Alas.
Yea, everything that happened after they caught The Devil felt a little ham fisted and yea, it helps to have Amanda Green write it which made me not want to gouge my eyes out.
Doesn’t stop me from wantin more Alex. Goddammit! I have to go watch Lead a few more times to make me feel better. Or, you know, go think about a hot date between friends. Um. Yea.
