it wasn’t just a funny story to share on air

I really didn’t think  Stephanie March could nerd out more than she did while on The Today Show talking about shooting the SVU ep at the UN building. Apparently I was wrong, because this CNN article reports:

Despite the imperfections of the United Nations, “SVU’s” March could not have been more thrilled with her experience filming at the U.N.

When asked what she would like to be doing if she weren’t putting away fictional bad guys as assistant DA Cabot, March said, “I would love to work for the United Nations. I have a great job, but really all I want to do is actually work in the U.N. I’m pretty excited to be here. It’s been a lifelong dream to be a part of it in some way.”

d’aaaaw… innit cute? She couldn’t have just taken the dime tour of the UN building to be “a part of it in some way”?  /snark

Here’s what I always picture when I listen to her describe her experience of being inside the general assembly hall (click to enlarge image):

Someone make this woman a Goodwill Ambassador already. Oh, what’s that? She needs an Oscar or summat? We’ll get right on that.

Hey, you really have too much time on your hand. ;-) Actually, she’s been saying that with wanting to work for the UN for years. She’s really cute, though, about it.

Btw, I don’t think going on the tour would’ve cut it for her – this way she could pretend she actually worked there. (And prolly dreamed about it afterwards for weeks… ;-) )

hey now – I do it all for the love of March. Plus, I adore that Today Show interview. Though all this does come off as being slightly creepy when grouped together. (oh god — Stephanie March, if you ever come across this, I really am NOT a creeper. Honest!)

Where else has she talked about the UN?? This is interesting. And obviously I’ve not been reading the right materials.

March Madness might just carry over to April since her guest spot on Rescue Me is on an episode slated to air sometime this month. So much for not being a CreepyFanGirl.

Phew, it took me a long time to get back to you. Okay, this is from a bio that NBC had put up (a long time ago!) in which it says:
“If not acting, March would have liked to pursue a career in foreign policy, or work for the United Nations as a foreign diplomat.”

Btw – while digging around in my stuff, I rediscovered a Hampton’s Mag article / interview (2007) with her titled “March Madness” – and it’s an appropriate name for that. You can see my e-mail addy here, if I’m not mistaken. So, if you’re interested it (it’s funny), drop me a line.

oh my god, you just made me squee in the most ridiculous manner. I am so in love with this woman it’s not even funny. my inner international-relations-nerdism cannot handle all this! ::dies::
