So how bad was it?
It was Gigli-bad.
My bro taught me that phrase today after we came out from watching Fast and Furious 4, or as our subtitling pros call it: Pantas dan Garang 4 (jengjeng!).
I went in with less-than-zero expectations. I knew nothing about the movie, didn’t read any reviews, never even saw a trailer. A good thing too, cause the best part of the movie was the opening gambit — the bro tells me that was essentially everything in the trailer. So you see, had I seen the trailer I would’ve already seen 7 ringgit worth of crap. Had I seen the trailer I would’ve known that Michelle Rodriguez was in the movie. I’d have missed out on the cheap thrill of being surprised to see Michelle Rodriguez who was, most unfortunately, killed at around the 20 minute mark.
A threshold that low kept me from throwing shit at the screen for the remainder of the movie. I was never a big fan of the whole series to begin with.. too much testosterone, outside of target audience, and then some I think. But the racing and chase scenes in the previous three were always entertaining enough. This one, heh, not so much. You’d need a palmful of dramamine to survive them.
So, you know, all things considered, it was pretty bad. Gigli-bad.
